Amerada Hess Oil Company Seminole, Texas (Foxboro to Honeywell TDC-3000 Upgrade)
Responsible for contract management and deliverables to client. This included but is not limited to detailed design, supervision, programming, training, and commissioning of a retrofit project for Hess Oil’s Seminole Gas Plant. Project scope was replacing an antiquated Foxboro Spectrum System with the latest Honeywell TDC-3000 Advanced Process Manager’s, Logic Manager’s, Serial & Remote I/O, Universal Station’s, and Unix Stations in an existing and operating Gas Plant. The was a joint venture project operated by Hess Oil with several major partners such as Mobil, Marathon, Texaco, and Exxon.
- Implemented a unique approach to this project which in turn saved our client nearly 50% in engineering costs as compared to competitive quotes. There were also several obstacles which are normal for an older plant that were overcome during the course of this project using advanced software techniques.
- There were no as-built wiring drawings for the plant and the only document that could be used to generate the basic design package was the Foxboro printed I/O list. Using this list and our trademarked Renaissance Technologies and technical capabilities, we were able to pre-generate skeleton loop drawings, termination panels, wiring, and I/O schedules that could be as-built verified in approximately 10% of the time it would take to normally as-built these plant documents. Utilizing existing plant resources such as maintenance personnel to verify our findings proved successful and efficient. Within weeks the plant was as-built to the point were detailed design engineering could begin.
